Dr Marc Walker
In 2012, I took on responsibility for the Warwick Photoemission Facility as Facility Manager. My role includes managing the XPS, UPS, LEED and ARPES facilities on our Omicron and Kratos instruments, experimental scheduling and liaising with users. We work with a wide variety of different groups and companies, at Warwick and beyond, on a huge range of different projects. Please see the Facility's dedicated pages for more information.
In addition to the photoemission work, I was also responsible for the group's low energy ion scattering chamber - more information at caiciss.co.uk .
My cv, publications and conference presentation lists are available to view.
Background
I have been a member of the Surface, Interface & Thin Films Group since starting my PhD studies in September 2002. In that time I have used the Warwick CAICISS system to study a range of different material systems including metal-metal alloys, metal oxides and semiconductor surfaces.
In 2009 I was appointed as a Research Fellow on a new EPSRC grant entitled "Structural and electronic properties of InN surfaces and interfaces". This research programme began with various techniques, including CAICISS and XPS, being used to study different methods of preparing clean InN surfaces for characterisation in ultra-high vacuum conditions, before looking in to ways of developing InN and related materials for device applications.
Away from Warwick.....
I am a keen golfer and am a member at Atherstone Golf Club, playing off a single figure handicap. I currently run the Avon League, played between 11 clubs in the Midlands. In 2010 I had the tremendous honour of being Club Captain at my old club and was Captain of the Avon League team there for three and a half years.
I am also a keen traveler with the USA and Portugal being my favourite destinations. I follow pretty much every major sport (and some obscure ones too!).
