Visitors to the Department
Dr. Antonio Rodríguez
Dr. Antonio Rodríguez has joined the Theoretical Physics Group as Visiting Academic, working with Rudolf A. Roemer. He is a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and belongs to the Quantum Nanosystems Group (www.qng.es). Besides his interest in electronic and optical properties of disordered materials, during the hast 10 years his research has focused on Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics, a current generalization of standard Boltzmann-Gibbs Statistical Mechancis specially suited to deal with symstes presenting nonequilibrium stationary states.
Rodrigo de Paula Almeida Lima
Rodrigo de Paula Almeida Lima has joined the Theoretical Physics Group as Visiting Academic, working with Rudolf A. Roemer. He is Professor in the Physics Department at Universidade Federal de Alagoas (Brazil). His research focuses on the quantum properties of low dimensional systems working mainly on the following topics: long-range coupling, Anderson transition, quantum percolation, Bose-Eisntein condensates, electronic and optical properties in nanostructures.
Karolina Bąkowska
I am a visiting fellow in Astronomy & Astrophysics group in the Department of Physics, working with Prof. T.R.Marsh. My research interests are accretion in, and the evolution of close binary stars, in particular cataclysmic variables.
