Information regarding individual APTS weeks

Below you can find information regarding local arrangements for each APTS week, including contact details, provisional timetables and travel advice. You will be notified by email when important new information appears here relating to an APTS week for which you are registered.

Please note: if you have a query regarding any local arrangements for a given week, you should contact the local organisers (whose details will be listed below nearer the time of the respective APTS week), and not APTS itself.

Week 4: University of Glasgow (3rd September 2012 - 7th September 2012)

  • Local organiser: Adrian Bowman - adrian dot bowman at glasgow dot ac dot uk
  • Modules: Longitudinal and Spatial Statistics (P. Diggle); Nonparametric Smoothing (R. Samworth)
  • Information Booklet: This Information Booklet is provisional. The final version will appear here in due course and it will be provided in printed form when you arrive.
  • Travel: Travel to Glasgow. Travel around Glasgow. Those travelling from a long distance may find that it is cheaper to travel the day before and find accommodation on Sunday night. If you choose to do this: (1) it is with your own institution that you must make arrangements to pay for the accommodation, APTS plays no part in this and (2) we are unfortunately not able to provide accommodation and you must make your own arrangement (A hotel which they regularly make use of has been suggested by the local organisers).
  • Accommodation: Will be in The University of Strathclyde Campus village in ensuite bedrooms (this has been checked).
  • Special Requirements: If you have any special dietary or other requirements and haven't yet done so, then please complete the special requirements form, although we cannot guarantee to accommodate unusualrequests received after August 17th.
  • Timetable: The provisional timetable can be seen in the information booklet.

Week 3: University of Warwick (2nd July 2012 - 6th July 2012)

  • Local organisers: John Aston - j dot a dot d dot aston at warwick dot ac dot uk and Adam Johansen - a dot m dot johansen at warwick dot ac dot uk
  • Modules: Applied Stochastic Processes (S. B. Connor & C. Goldschmidt); Computer Intensive Statistics (B. Ripley)
  • Information Booklet: This Information Booklet is provisional. The final version will appear here in due course and it will be provided in printed form when you arrive.
  • Travel: Information on how to get to University of Warwick. Please note the key point, if travelling by train, the closest train station is not Warwick Station. iPad, iPhone and Android-device users may find the start.Warwick app helpful.
  • Local Navigation: A map of the campus will help you to locate registration and lectures in the Mathematics & Statistics building (building 39) and your accommodation in the Rootes building (building 53). Again, the start.Warwick app may be helpful.
  • Car Parking: Workshop participants are invited to use conference car park 7 or 8a. Car parking is free of charge during your event in the conference car parks, both of which are shown on the enclosed campus map. If you park in either of these car parks, you will need a token to exit --- these should be collected from Rootes reception when you check in.
  • Accommodation: Students can collect keys to their accommodation from Rootes reception. Please see the information booklet for details.
  • Registration: Registration for the APTS week will take place between 11.15am and 12.45pm on Monday 2nd July, 2012; just inside the main entrance to the Zeeman building (i.e. the one which houses the Mathematics and Statistics Departments).
  • Academy Dinner / Special requirements: The dress code for the academy dinner is smart casual. Please complete this form by 15th June to provide a menu choice for the academy dinner and to let us know of any special requirements.
