On Professor Lord Bhattacharyya:

He could sell the vision and get people to buy into it, and then when he got them on board he would drive it through with his people.

His foresight was to look at the needs of tomorrow’s industry and make sure that people were upskilling themselves to be ready for what is coming. So digital design methods, digitisation, all of the material that went into WMG – it was all very relevant to taking business forward.

On Degree Apprenticeships:

I think Lord Bhattacharyya was very clear that this was so important. He believed that business needed diversity of all kinds in order to be successful, that there was much more than one model of people who would do well.

And of course, there was also his core commitment to eliminate the great divide between academia and business. Apprenticeships, if done properly, really bond the two together. That is why they were so key for him.
