Biography
Dr Charlie (Charlotte) Primeau is an Assistant Professor in Forensic Imaging and leads the forensic micro-CT work at the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick. Her expertise in forensic imaging supports homicide and serious crime investigations for UK police forces in cases such as child and vulnerable adult abuse, sharp and blunt force trauma, strangulations and dismemberment. Charlie’s involvement in forensic imaging research is particularly focused on child abuse.
She has a dual background as a forensic anthropologist and a diagnostic radiographer. Charlie is a certified forensic anthropologist practitioner (FA level III) with the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI) and licensed with the The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to practice diagnostic radiography in the UK. She has a BSc in Forensic Anthropology, a MSc in Human Identification, a MSc in Diagnostic Radiography, a PhD in Forensic Medicine and Anthropology and a PgCert in Forensic Radiography. In addition to having worked as a diagnostic radiographer, Charlie has worked as a bioarchaeologist and anthropologist conducting osteological analysis of human remains of both modern and archaeological origin, using radiographic and CT imaging as well as SEM analysis. She has also worked on commingled and fragmentary human remains.
Charlotte has published numerous papers as a first author and as a co-author in international peer-reviewed journals on subjects such as forensic science, child abuse, medical and industrial imaging, anthropology, archaeology, patient care and imaging in cancer, paleodontology, and human osteology. She is on the International Advisory Panel and Editorial Board for the Journal of Radiography, helping to direct the contents of the journal and ensuring relevance to the international radiography workforce. She is also on the committee of the UK Branch of the International Association of Forensic Radiographers (IAFR), helping to develop and promote best practice in forensic radiography through education and training, research, events, communication and coordination of forensic radiography within the UK.
