The Future Of Work

High Tech Manufacturing Conference

University of Warwick 2024

Future of Work: High-tech manufacturing

is a campaign to teach parents, teachers, and students aged 11 to 18 about jobs in manufacturing, engineering and design. Star apprentices, star graduates and directors from great companies will help re-educate parents and teachers about the variety of jobs, what is involved, the skills they need, how they will change with AI and digitalisation, the high demand for people trained in these disciplines, the pay, conditions and future outlook.

There are four regional conferences in England in autumn 2024 with more events running across the UK in 2025 and beyond. The talks and sessions are filmed and, using video of modern manufacturing operations and teams, distributed by digital and social media, including platforms like Tiktok and Instagram for teenagers.

"The engineering community needs to do more."

The engineering community needs to do more to engage with parents, teachers and students about the varied and inspiring jobs available in the manufacturing sector,” says Andrew Everett, CEO of The ERA Foundation. “Attend this conference and you will learn a lot about the future of these careers, and may meet companies that can help your tech, design and STEM at your school.
