Opportunities for Teachers with WMG Outreach Continuing Professional Development
Who are we?
WMG Outreach sit within the WMG department at the University of Warwick. We run events throughout the year in almost any venue and with a wide range of audiences. Our activities focus on engaging and fun experiences of engineering concepts.
Our CPD sessions are linked to our activities and balance the real world and labour market of engineering with national curriculum content.
Why do we offer CPD?
We aim to provide inspiring experiences of engineering to as many students as possible. For every teacher that we support we are potentially supporting 30 or more students.
We believe that combining this approach with our school workshops and public events we can give young people the best possible understanding of the E in STEM.
Our programme
The CPD sessions on offer are shown below.
We will host these online through Microsoft Teams. Dates for sessions will depend on sign up. Once we have enough interest registered, we organise a session and confirm a date and time (4 weeks in advance).
A rough guide of appropriate year groups is given, but we welcome any teachers who feel that the content could be useful to them.

| Weds 5th November 2025 | Routes into Engineering | To celebrate National Engineering Day, we are inviting teachers working with students from Year 9 to Year 13 who are interested in exploring careers in engineering and study routes. Whether you're advising students on subject choices or supporting them in post-16 decisions, this CPD will equip you with up-to-date information and resources to guide them effectively. | TBC | Turtlestitch | Use maths, code, and design to create a digital pattern that can be stitched using a programmatic embroidery machine. A link for Teacher CPD can be found on the Turtlestitch Resources page. |
Years 5-9 |
| TBC | TinkerCAD | An introductory computer aided design package that runs entirely from a browser. Work through a simple design task to teach students the principles of CAD. Register your interest with this form. |
