Description
Tinkercad is a free, easy-to-use CAD software that works in the web browser, so no software to download.
Tinkercad provides a fun and engaging introduction to the iterative design process and provides excellent cross-curricular links to maths, as pupils use measurement and geometry in a real context to ensure that their designs are functional. Tinkercad is ideal for pupils from 9 years of age.
In this free online teacher training session you will be introduced to the basics of using Tinkercad. Then we will work through some of the free WMG Tinkercad resources and explain how they have been used with school pupils aged 9 to 14 as part of our outreach work. These resources are freely available for you to use in the classroom.
No prior experience of CAD is needed to participate in this training. Following the session, teachers will be able to continue familiarising themselves with Tinkercad using our free video tutorials, which are suitable for complete beginners.
