Core modules

This module provides the financial and accounting knowledge to be able to analyse, interpret, extrapolate and produce financial data.

This module gives leaders and aspiring leaders what they need to understand and act effectively in a world that is increasingly ‘digital’ and ‘connected’ – recognising the impact this has on existing ‘physical’ assets, and on the ultimate asset of any organisation, ‘people’.

People in OrganisationsLink opens in a new window

People are the key and most important resource in an organisation. This module focuses on the strategic management of the people resource in organisations and how this relates to the wider organisational context and business strategy.

Strategic Business ManagementLink opens in a new window

This module looks at the role of Business Strategy in organisations. It addresses the importance of strategy to the organisation and examines the process for developing and implementing an effective strategy.

Supply Chain and Operations ManagementLink opens in a new window

Future leaders need to be equipped with practical knowledge of how to effectively manage supply and demand within the supply network. This module explores the management of supply network relationships, as well as understanding the impact of efficient delivery in companies which value customer centricity.

Participants will apply concepts, models, and frameworks to understand and critically evaluate the potential for innovation in corporations and start-ups.

This module provides participants with an opportunity to understand change – its drivers, risks, consequences and people’s responses.

Personal Leadership and ChangeLink opens in a new window

The aim of this module is to provide participants with the opportunity and resources to determine their own learning needs to enable them to develop as an authentic leader.

Project Planning, Management and ControlLink opens in a new window

Project Management is an essential competence for managers and leaders. This module aims to teach the generic principles of project planning, management and control for any project in any environment.

Technology ManagementLink opens in a new window

Participants will consider the role that technology plays in supporting current and future business, and how to manage the technology from cradle to grave.

Project

To gain your MSc, you will also need to complete a Company Based ProjectLink opens in a new window. This will focus on a live issue within your organisation which you will explore, together with an academic supervisor from WMG, over a 12 month period. The project will culminate in the writing of a dissertation, which will count toward 1/3 of the credit of your degree.

Module availability

Module availability and staffing may change year on year depending on availability and other operational factors. We make no guarantee that any modules will be offered in a particular year, or that they will necessarily be taught by the staff listed on the module pages.

Teaching and learning

You’ll study for three years on a part-time basis. There are five core modules, three elective modules and a company-based project dissertation. In addition to the eight assessed modules, there will be a study skills (non-assessed) event delivered at the start of the course to set the context, introduce key study skills and enable you to meet your fellow cohort and start to build your network. We also run an online study skills event before you embark on your project dissertation.

Modules are usually delivered in a week-long block format which normally comprise lectures, seminars, and undertaking group tasks based on real scenarios. We will use a range of traditional and innovative teaching methods, predominantly focused on blended learning practices. For some modules you will have the option to attend fully online. Our blended learning is a combination of face-to-face and online delivery and is aimed at offering flexibility and networking opportunities for work-based learners. We will be able to give you the schedule in advance so you can plan your time out of the office.

We will use a range of assessment methods that are appropriate to the topics being taught. Of course, you will need to undertake reading and assignments, but these assignments are usually related to your workplace and help you to apply what you have learnt. Students often find that the assignments provide valuable evidence of continuing professional development, demonstrate to their organisations their developing knowledge, and often benefit the company by providing an analysis of an area of operations.

Fees

For September 2024 entry, qualification costs if paid in full are as follows:

• Postgraduate Diploma: £20,180
• Master’s Degree: £25,890

Annual or quarterly payment options are available. A full quote will be provided at point of enquiry.

A residential fee is also available on request as we have bed and breakfast facilities on campus via Warwick Conferences.

Fees can be paid in a single instalment, three annual instalments or 12 quarterly instalments.

For the latter two options a formal quote will be provided detailing the payment schedule and the amount to be collected at each payment point.

Typically, most students are sponsored by their employer, but self-funding is also an option. We highly recommend that students are in employment whilst taking the course due to the nature of the work-based learning.

Entry requirements

The course is designed for those in employment as you will need to apply your studies directly to the work environment throughout the programme. We recommend you have at least three years of appropriate professional experience and that you possess the equivalent of a UK second-class honours degree.

The course is also open to talented people without a first degree, who have relevant work-experience, have taken a less-traditional route in their career and who will have shown great potential in the business. Please contact us to discuss.Link opens in a new window
