Meet the team: Liz McArdle

Liz McArdle, Innovation Manager

Meet Liz, Innovation Manager for the SME Group at WMG. With a degree in engineering, masters qualifications in psychology and manufacturing, and a doctorate in engineering, alongside decades of experience working in manufacturing and engineering businesses; Liz reflects the core purpose of WMG, as a bridge between research and business.

Working with SMEs and large global organisations, Liz not only understands the struggles that SME manufacturers face, but has the knowledge and experience to support them to overcome these challenges.

Work at the SME Group

Liz has been an important part of the SME Group for eight years, and has worked on many projects in that time, most recently creating and running the 'Developing Future Sustainable Manufacturing Leaders' programme, raising awareness of the importance of great leadership skills for manufacturing businesses.

Some key areas Liz has focused on during her time in the SME Group has been:

• Knowledge transfer around productivity
• Developing manufacturing staff
• SME support for value streams and effective practices

Fun fact about Liz

Liz loves cats, and once decided to take hers on holiday! The outcome wasn't as joyful however, as she ended up in hospital.
