WMG sponsors 'SET for Britain' Silver Award

SET Award 2014WMG congratulates Claire Donaghue who won the Silver Engineering Award at the 2014 SET for Britain Poster Competition which took place at the Houses of Parliament today.

WMG sponsored the Silver Engineering Award which was presented to Claire by Dr David Clark, Principal Fellow at WMG.

Claire Donaghue is a PhD student from the Centre of Excellence for Medical Engineering Solutions in Osteoarthritis at Imperial College. Claire won the Silver Award for her poster on ‘Teaching Machines to Diagnose Osteoarthritis from MRI Scans’.

Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) for Britain is a high profile, annual poster competition and exhibition for early career researchers and attracts nearly 600 entries covering Biological & Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Chemical & Physical Sciences and Mathematics. The event showcases the very best of British science, mathematics and engineering from our brightest and most dynamic early career researchers. The competition gives the researchers the opportunity to showcase their research, visit the Houses of Parliament and meet with their MPs. The event is organised by Andrew Miller MP, Chair of the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee.

Professor Lord Bhattacharyya commented:

The SET for Britain awards are organised by the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee and have been scheduled to coincide with National Science and Engineering Week which is taking place across the UK this week.
