This year marks a significant milestone for the International Conference on AI and the Digital Economy (CADE), as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. Formerly known as Cooperative Advantages in the Digital Economy Forum, CADE has evolved over the past decade into a pivotal platform for exploring the dynamic intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy. Over the past decade, CADE has been a great place for researchers, especially those in the early stages of their careers, to share their work, discuss ideas, take roles in organising the event, and make professional connections. This year's programme will again take place in beautiful Venice, Italy, in a blended format, allowing participants to attend physically or virtually on 24-26 June 2024. CADE aims to provide opportunities for academics and practitioners to share the latest research, build networks, and develop ideas & projects on topics related to the research themes of AI in Health, AI in Finance, AI in Service-Oriented Industries, Digital Public Infrastructure, Smart Mobility & Sustainability. Participants will be able to present in a friendly environment where the emphasis is on discussion and development of the work presented. There are awards for best paper and best developmental paper with the latter being for ECRs and PhD students.
Call for Papers
We welcome submissions and participation from academics, practitioners, and policy makers. To support discussion and development of ideas and networks, we encourage submissions that consider social science, technical, and policy issues.
Submissions can be extended abstracts (2 pages) or full papers (6 pages). These should be prepared using the IET template and have the following format: Purpose, Theoretical Background (where appropriate), Findings, Discussion, Managerial Implications (if applicable) and Limitations.
This year’s themes are AI in Health, AI in Finance, Digital Public Infrastructure, Smart Mobility, and Sustainability. We are interested in submissions that represent interdisciplinary research spanning various fields. Submissions are encouraged from disciplines such as marketing, human resources, operations and supply chain management, strategy, behavioural sciences, economics, information systems, computer science, and cyber security. We would particularly like to encourage submissions from scholars in the wider community, including anthropologists, sociologists, data scientists and those from design disciplines interested in the digital economy. We do not require empirical work, and welcome abstracts exploring conceptual ideas, and we are actively seeking work in the developmental stages of research.
The conference proceedings will be published by the IET and will be available through the IET Digital Library and IEEE Xplore. The proceedings will be indexed through the major databases Scopus (Elsevier); Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics); ProQuest; NLM (US National Library of Medicine); and CrossRef.

- The use of new and emerging technologies (e.g., AI, blockchain & distributed ledger technologies)
- Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled business models, economic models & market creation in the digital economy
- Resilient and sustainable operations and supply chain management
- Security, privacy, and forensic technologies in the digital economy
- Digital platforms
- Design & innovation in the digital economy
- Personal data: analytics and management
- Identity, privacy & trust in the digital economy
- Individual’s perceptions of privacy, trust & vulnerability in the digital economy
- Ensuring an equitable digital economy
- Ensuring a sustainable digital economy
- The links between the digital economy and the circular economy
- The ethics of digital identity
- The future of work within the digital economy
- Value opportunities in the digital economy
Conference Format
The conference will have a blended format, with participants being able to present and attend in-person or virtually. The programme with be designed around a number of general sessions and track-specific sessions. Each session will last up to two hours, with three papers per session and a closing Q&A with the authors.
Presentations are synchronous. Authors are expected to submit their slides one week in advance of the conference to allow for their upload prior to the conference. Presentations are to be 20 minutes long, with all participants from each session joining in a 30 to 40 minutes Q&A at the end of the session. We intend to identify themes among the submissions and group them into specific sessions to foster discussion from across the presentations during the Q&A.

Charge of Extra Pages: The papers longer than 6-page will be asked for £50 extra for each four pages, or the authors can reduce to fit in the page limit for acceptance.
Review Process
The submissions will undergo a blind review process against the following criteria:
- Topic suitability to the conference
- Justification of the purpose
- Appropriate theoretical background (where appropriate)
- Robustness of the research methodology
- Alignment between the findings/discussion and the objectives/purpose of the research
- Relevance of the contributions to theory and practice
Awards will be given for contributions of merit.
