WMG celebrates the Class of 2026

In a glittering ceremony held at Warwick Art Centre's Butterworth Hall on Friday 31 July, 391 Master's, 28 PhD, two EngD, and 146 undergraduate students proudly took to the stage to receive their degrees.

Of the Master’s cohort, 221 studied full time, 23 part time, and the remaining 147 at WMG’s overseas centres. On the undergraduate side, 56 students graduated from the BSc Cyber Security programmeLink opens in a new window, 38 from the BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Degree ApprenticeshipLink opens in a new window, and a further 52 from the BEng Applied Professional Engineering Degree ApprenticeshipLink opens in a new window.

The ceremony featured an inspirational speech from WMG alumnus Dr Phumzile Mlambo-NgcukaLink opens in a new window, Chancellor of the University of Johannesburg and the first female Vice President of the Republic of South Africa. She has also served as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women

Dr Mlambo-Ngcuka was awarded a Doctorate in Technology and Education by WMG in 2013 and became an Honorary Doctor of Science at this year's ceremony.

"This is a truly special moment", said Dr Mlambo-Ngcuka as she addressed this year's graduates. "You have gifted yourself a gift [for] life that you'll take with you anywhere and everywhere. It will open doors for you. It will raise the bar for you. It will make you aspirational. I urge you to use [this gift] in a way that disrupts [areas] where you see the need for change."

The celebrations culminated in an exclusive event for graduates to come together to toast their success alongside their friends and family. During the event, prizes were presented for standout performance and projects across each degree programme, including the WMG Overseas Prize (Thailand).
