WMG hosts Dame Julie Moore Inaugural Lecture

Dame Julie Moore Inaugural Lecture at the University of WarwickWMG at the University of Warwick was delighted to host the inaugural lecture of Dame Julie Moore.

Professor Lord Bhattacharyya welcomed Dame Julie Moore who has been appointed as an Honorary Professor at the University.

Over a 100 people attended Dame Julie's lecture which focused on the use of IT in healthcare. She specifically showcased how University Hospital Birmingham has improved the quality of its service provision by taking inspiration from the car industry.Dame Julie Moore Inaugural Lecture audience at the University of Warwick

This inspiring lecture highlighted that quality is very much at the heart of University Hospital Birmingham. By using data properly and being transparent, their patients are benefiting from 'Best in Care'.

Dame Julie Moore said "There is increasing co-operation between the University of Warwick and University Hospital Birmingham that is advantageous to our patients. I'm proud to be here and very honoured to take up this Professorship."

Dame Julie has been the Chief Executive of University Hospital Birmingham, under her management it has performed consistently highly in national rating systems. It has 1250 beds, £620m turnover, 7200 staff, treats 730,000 patients annually and has a £545m Private finance Initiative new hospital building which opened on time and on budget in 2010. It hosts the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine and Birmingham Health Partners, a partnership for health research. The National Institute of Health Research Centre for Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology was opened at the Queen Elizabeth in 2011.

In 2008, University Hospital Birmingham opened the Learning Hub in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council, which helps long term unemployed back to wrok. In 2010 the hospital celebrated helping the 1000th person back to work.
