Warwick on Wheels at The Gadget Show Live

Warwick on Wheels will be at the Gadget Show Live featuring the very latest in engineering research and innovation from Warwick.

You will be able to seeour 3D printing and scanning where we will be generating 3D models of an F1 racing car. This is an area of research that is capturing the imaginations not only of academics and manufacturers but also celebrities like Chris Evans who recently marvelled at its capabilities on his breakfast show on Radio 2, is comprised of highly accurate laser scanning and Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM).

Why not experience our sound shower, where directional speakers are used to create a highly focused and directional audio footprint. This kind of technology could be used in train stations where it is sometimes difficult to hear announcements due to the level of noise.

Through a number of competitions that are being held daily, researchers will use the 3D scanner to scan your favourite gadget, or other suitably sized item, and feed it into the 3D printing machine so you’ll be able to take home your very own 3D print.

We will also be showcasing our WorldF3rst racing simulator, based on the fully functioning F3 car made almost entirely out of renewable materials.

The Warwick Bioreactor will be demonstrating the University’s Wealth out of Waste programme, which has produced novel high value products, so advanced that the team are still developing ways in which to use them.

Academics from WMG will be participating in a programme of sessions designed to introduce the various technologies at the show and highlight their importance to our future.

Dr Kerry Kirwan, Head of the Sustainability Group at WMG said: We are very excited that Warwick on Wheels is coming to the Gadget Show Live. Warwick and WMG have a long history of innovation and we’re looking forward to getting both children and adults interested and involved.”
