BCS accreditation for WMG education programmes
A total of five undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at WMG, University of Warwick have received accreditation from the BCS, Chartered Institute for IT.
The BCS, the professional body for computing, awarded unconditional accreditation, to the following:
Full-time courses
- BSc Cyber Security
- MSc Cyber Security Engineering
- MSc Cyber Security Management
Degree Apprenticeships
- BSc Digital and Technology Solutions
- MSc Digital and Technology Solutions
This accreditation ensures that graduates from the relevant BSc and MSc programmes are automatically eligible to apply for full or partial Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) membership with BCS respectively, thereby enhancing their employability prospects as they embark on careers in technology and computing.
Professor Gill CookeLink opens in a new window, Pro-Dean for Education at WMG, explained: “I’m absolutely delighted to see that these programmes have received unconditional accreditation – a rare and prestigious accomplishment. Accreditation is a huge team effort, and would not have been possible without the hard work from our undergraduate and postgraduate Digital Technology Solutions and Cyber Security academics, and the Academic Quality administration team

“A strong relationship with the BCS, as the IT industry’s leading professional body, is key to the integrity and quality of our programmes.
“The students who choose to study BCS-accredited degrees can rest assured they will be gaining the right set of technical, personal, and professional skills for the evolving technology industry — while employers can be confident that our graduates are prepped and ready to make an impact.
“This BCS accreditation enhances employability and recognises the fusion of academic excellence with industrial relevance.”
Dr. Freeha Azmat, BCS Accreditation Lead (Academic) for WMG, added: “All of our BSc and MSc courses have achieved full and partial CITP status, respectively, along with partial Chartered Engineer accreditation—an outstanding accomplishment. This success reflects the dedication of our course leaders and their teams, who consistently prioritise quality and integrity at the core of our programmes.”
Amy Collins, Head of Academic Services for WMG, said: “This is a great tribute to the combined efforts of our administrative and academic teams. I’m really proud of my team’s contribution and commitment to the quality and integrity of the programmes.”
