Professor Khastgir said: "I am honoured to have received this prestigious recognition. It is especially humbling to be recognised as part of India-UK living bridge, two countries that have been foundational in my career.

‘‘From a child growing up in Delhi (India) who was fascinated by cars and transport technology to starting my PhD at the University of Warwick 10 years ago, making our roads safer has become my life’s mission. Today, leading one of the largest research teams in WMG, and working with over 100 partners globally, I can confidently say that true impact is achieved through genuine collaboration. I am grateful to my team, WMG and all our partners who have trusted us enabling us to make a difference and improve our society.

‘‘The UK and India have a special and historical bond. Bringing together the UK’s research excellence and India’s rapidly growing economic and innovation development, we can create and realise a true living bridge through technology and skills transfer, and create impacts at a scale never seen before.

‘‘The UK and India have a special and historical bond. Bringing together the UK’s research excellence and India’s rapidly growing economic and innovation development, we can create and realise a true living bridge through technology and skills transfer, and create impacts at a scale never seen before.‘‘Here at WMG, we uphold the late Professor Lord Bhattacharyya’s philosophy and legacy in translating engineering excellence into sustained impact by closely collaborating with industrial partners, nationally and globally. WMG has had, and continues to have, deep relationships with Indian organisations, industry, and the public sector. I have been fortunate to have been part of many joint activities with Indian organisations including a partnership with TATA AutoComp Systems Ltd to deliver their flagship LEAP Vault 2.0 training to a cohort of global leaders in Pune.

“With immense opportunities between the two nations and driven by Lord Bhattacharyya’s values, I look forward to contributing to further strengthening the India-UK partnership through research and education partnerships.’’
