Professor Robin Clark
Dean of WMG, University of Warwick , CEng FIMechE CMgr FCMI
Professor Robin Clark is Dean and Managing Director of WMG, and was appointed to this position in October 2020 having been at WMG since 2017. Robin first came to WMG as Associate Director of Postgraduate Programmes and then became Director of Education in 2019.
WMG is the largest department of the University of Warwick (77th in the THE World University Rankings) with a turnover of over £110m per year, with 850 staff, 3000+ students and 250 PhD students.
Over Robin’s career, he has worked in both academia and industry. Prior to joining WMG, Robin spent 14 years at Aston University as Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching (School of Engineering and Applied Science). During his time at Aston, he became a National Teaching Fellow and founded the UK and Ireland Engineering Education Research Network.
Prior to academia, Robin spent 14 years working in industry, as a Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager. He worked at Rolls Royce & Associates and British Rail. He also worked for Sperry Rail, an American rail inspection company, where he was based in Connecticut for eight years, becoming Vice President for Engineering and R&D.
Robin publishes regularly on the subject of engineering education and is regarded as a leading researcher in the field.
Professor David Greenwood
CEO of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult at WMG, and Director for Industrial Engagement
David moved into academia after 20 years in industry latterly as Head of Hybrid and Electric Systems for engineering consultancy Ricardo UK Ltd. He established the Energy Directorate at WMG where he led a team of over 200 researchers and engineers. His research spans batteries, electric motors, power electronics, and the integration and control of these for propulsion and energy applications.
Professor Gill Cooke
Pro-Dean Education
Professor Cooke joined WMG in June from the School of Engineering, where she was Head of Teaching for almost six years. Prior to that she spent many years in various teaching and management roles at Coventry University including Associate Dean.Gill left school at 16 to embark on an Engineering Technician Apprenticeship at Dunlop Aviation in Coventry. After completing her apprenticeship Gill qualified as a Quality Engineer working at Dunlop Aviation, Alvis Aerospace, and Jones and Shipman.
Professor Paul Jennings
Pro-Dean Research
Paul Jennings is a physicist who has been with WMG for over 25 years working on research with industrial and academic partners. He has built groups in Intelligent Vehicles, Energy Storage and Management, and Experiential Engineering through significant research and capital funding. He has published over 100 academic papers and has been Principal Investigator on over 30 research grants, from sources including EPSRC, Innovate UK and the EU.
Paul Bradley
Chief Finance Officer
Paul qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young (now ‘EY’) in the UK and subsequently worked for EY for 20 years in the UK, Czech Republic and Germany in a variety of finance, accounting and advisory roles. In that time he worked with both private equity investors and multinational companies across a range of sectors specialising in automotive, pharmaceutical and chemicals. Paul joined WMG six years ago after previously working within central finance for the University.
Louise Ledden-Rocks
Director of People and Culture
Louise has over 20 years’ experience of leading HR teams in organisations within both the public sector and the private sector. She plays a key role in aligning WMG’s talent and culture with its strategy, optimising organisational effectiveness and fostering an inclusive work environment. Louise is dedicated to ensuring WMG is a workplace where every individual's potential is realised, diversity is celebrated, and collective success is achieved through collaboration and innovation.
