Before joining WMG in 2003, Dr Marshall spent 12 years at Lucas aerospace (now Aero engine controls) where she was project Manager of UK DTI funded collaborative project titled REMM, with partners from GE Aviation, Rolls Royce, University of Strathclyde, University of Warwick, Westland helicopters, BAE SYSTEMS and FR-HiTEMP. Other prior roles included, reliability analysis using tools such as, FMEA, FTA, Reliability Growth Testing, Weibull Analysis, Reliability Prediction on Aerospace projects and statistical analysis of Production Acceptance Test data using SPC methods and non-parametric statistical methods. She also supervised PhD students and taught on in-house reliability and design for six sigma courses during this period.

Prior to her industrial experience, Dr Marshall was a lecturer in statistics at Nottingham Trent University where she focussed her research and consultancy interests in the field of reliability engineering.

Dr Marshall's Phd is from Loughborough University and was in the field of reliability analysis of electronic components.

At WMG she is module tutor for MSc modules: Quality, Reliability and Maintenance and Product Excellence using Six sigma and she lectures on reliability engineering to 3rd year undergraduate engineers. She undertakes both postgraduate and undergraduate project supervision as well as PhD supervision in the field of reliability, maintenance and quality management.

She is a chartered statistician and member of international standards committee IEC TC/56 WG2 on reliability tools and techniques.
