Ton Peijs is a Professor of Polymer Technology and Director of the National Polymer Processing Centre at WMG. His research focuses mainly on materials and processing innovations in polymers and composites. Ton has made notable contributions to areas such as hybrids, composite interfaces, failure, damage tolerance and durability, natural fibres and biobased materials, polymer fibres, multifunctional materials, and nanocomposites. He has also pioneered the development of sustainable composites, including the development of fully recyclable all-polymer composites.
Ton joined WMG in 2019, where he leads interdisciplinary R&D in polymer engineering, linking materials, processing and engineering aspects of sustainable polymer based products with a special focus on tailoring and processing of polymers and composites to achieve specific and enhanced properties. Areas of interest are hybrid materials for lightweighting, biobased materials, multifunctional composites, nanocomposites, fibres and films, and processing of thermoplastic composites.
