Putting the ‘Self’ Back in Self-Driving

Putting the ‘Self’ Back in Self-Driving

Joseph Smyth

If autonomous vehicles make their way into our lives and we start being passengers and not drivers in our own cars there are a lot of new things that we’ll be able to do.

You might want to read, work, paint or play games as you travel and there’s a world of new possibilities you might explore with a self-driving car. However, there could be some new problems emerging if you do try out any of those things while you travel ...

Joe’s research is all about what happens when you confuse your senses by travelling and doing something else at the same time – motion sickness. This could be an issue for a large section of our society who already suffer with motion sickness. This could get worse as vehicles take over the driving. Joe shares his research on training people to travel happily and keep their lunch where it is supposed to be.
