Battery Abuse Testing
This is a highly practical course which provides delegates with ‘hands-on’ experience of battery abuse testing in a EUCAR level-7 test chamber. It equips delegates with an understanding of battery failure mechanisms, the different approaches to battery abuse testing and an appreciation of the unpredictable nature of this type of battery testing. Delegates will develop an understanding of the hazards created during battery failure events and how these hazards can be managed.
Delivery: Face to face
Duration: 2 Days
Learning outcomes
After completing this course, you will:
- Describe the hazards created by a battery failure event and the underpinning mechanisms that drive cell failure
- Understand the applicable test standards that apply to their specific application or industry sector
- Understand the unpredictable nature of battery abuse testing and what this means for reproducibility and repeatability
- Undertake a variety of different battery abuse test types, including test set-up, initiation and post-test clean-down and de-contamination
- Describe how the hazards related to battery abuse testing are mitigated and managed by the facility design and safety systems
- Safely manage post-test materials including quarantine, disposal and waste management
- Develop a safe system of work for their own battery abuse testing activity
