Battery Cell-to-Pack Engineering

This three-day course builds upon the foundations of our well-established WMG Battery School, offering a deeper exploration into battery systems and manufacturing processes.

Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of battery testing and management, predictive understanding, high voltage systems, mechanical integration, safety, and recycling.

 27th - 29th January 2026

Learning Outcomes

By attending this course, you will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate the requirements, national roadmaps and research priorities for battery system design and manufacturing within the UK.
  • Construct a plan for the electrical characterisation of a battery system, supporting the prediction of future performance and degradation.
  • Assess different modelling approaches appropriate for estimating battery system performance and life, in terms of their underpinning assumptions, parameterisation and validation requirements.
  • Evaluate the requirements for a battery control system, its instrumentation, and the high voltage electrical architecture required to integrate the battery system within an end-use application.
  • Critically evaluate the requirements and technology trends associated with cell-to-pack integration, including methods of joining and thermal management.
  • Assess the safety requirements of a cell within the context of a system design and the experimental methods employed to evaluate common battery failure modes.
