Transcript: Meet our alumni - Ana (2024)

Completing a Bachelor’s was a great next step for me as I want to go into academia to eventually help with combatting cyber crime, social justice, and a wider area of up and coming research.

I decided to do a Bachelor’s here at WMG due to its numerous industry but also academic connections, and I think the amount of staff who are here and so willing to help and to drive you has really helped in propelling me towards that next destination.

The thing I enjoyed the most about studying Cyber Security at Warwick was the people really. Meeting so many likeminded classmates and meeting so many staff who are equally passionate about the course that you do and the subject that we work in was so refreshing to see, especially as someone who had usually grown up being the only girl in the computer science class and the only girl wanting to go into STEM. It’s nice to see that not only the gender balance, but also the staff treatment and also the way that your friends treat you was really, really helpful and supportive throughout my time here.

I was the President of the Warwick Cyber Security Society. I did that from 2022 all the way until 2024. Apart from just spending my time in Cyber, Warwick has a really thriving music community. So I did a lot of acapella. If you’ve seen the movie Pitch Perfect before, I did competitive acapella at the exact same competition that they showed in the movie, so that was very fun as well.
