We are delighted to announce that Professor Jane Bryan from Warwick Law School has been listed in the Kindness and Leadership 50 Leading Lights UK 2023.

The UK campaign, run in association with KPMG aims to challenge the global leadership conversation by placing a spotlight on leaders around the world who are using the power of kindness to make an impact and to empower change. This unique initiative showcases 50 remarkable individuals from different industries across the UK, who are positively contributing to business, the economy, and broader society.

Jane has demonstrated a huge dedication to fostering positive change here at the University of Warwick by promoting kindness and inclusivity. She pioneered Warwick's Mediation Service to support staff and students to resolve conflict through dialogue and to educate future lawyers about alternatives to litigation. She has won two prestigious National Mediation Awards for her positive impact on staff and student well-being and retention. Jane also devised Warwick's Kindness on Campus Awards, currently serves as Warwick’s Values Education Lead, and launched the ground-breaking 'Say My Name' campaign.

When asked how kindness is relevant to effective leadership, Jane stated:

“All too often, small acts of kindness go unnoticed and yet they are the glue that holds our community together. At Warwick University, I devised an initiative to encourage staff and students to recognise and to celebrate acts of kindness. Feedback about the Awards from winners, nominees, nominators and others has been excellent with many saying that it was heartening to see the University recognise and celebrate kindness in this way. It has definitely helped begin conversations at Warwick about the importance of kindness which has spread to other areas of interactions”.
