Critical edition of Georges Dumézil, Mitra-Varuna published
A new critical edition of Georges Dumézil's classic book Mitra-Varuna: An Essay on Two Indo-European Representations of Sovereignty has been published.
The book is translated by Derek Coltman, and the critical edition and introduction is by Stuart Elden, with an afterword by Veena Das.
The book is available as an open access pdf from HAU books with a print edition forthcoming soon distributed by University of Chicago Press .
This is part of the work of Stuart's Mapping Indo-European thought in twentieth-century France research project, funded by a Leverhulme Trust major research fellowship.
