Welcome Week Activities
Monday 29 September
- 12:00 - 13:00: International Student Welcome (Optional - International Students Only), OC1.04 (Oculus)
- The Wellbeing Team will join us to share tips on overcoming the challenges of settling in a new culture. Then, meet other new international students from the Philosophy department.
Tuesday 30 September
- 10:00 - 11:00: Welcome to PPL at Warwick, S0.21 (Social Sciences)
- Meet the PPL team as we run through vital information as you begin your PPL degree.
- 11:00 - 12:00: PPL Treasure Hunt - Social Sciences Quad
- Form teams to explore campus on the PPL Treasure Hunt.
- 12:00 - 14:00: PPL Lunch, Fusion Restaurant
- Meet the PPL Society and spend some time with your PPL peers over lunch.
- 14:00 - 15:00 - Law School Induction, S0.19 (Social Sciences)
- Meet the Law School and other students taking Joint Honours degrees.
Wednesday 1 October
- 10:00 - 11:00: Getting Started with PPL, PS1.28 (Physical Sciences)
- Join us as we introduce you to some important systems to help you with getting started with PPL. Not sure how to find Reading Lists? Need to know how to register for your seminars? Ask us any questions you have about getting started as a PPL student at Warwick.
- 11:30 - 17:00: Law School Induction (Optional)
- 11:30 - 13:00: Library and Law Databases Induction, R0.21 (Ramphal)
- 13:00 - 14:00: Careers and Development Support in the Law School, R0.21 (Ramphal)
- 14:00 - 15:00: Discovering the School of Law's Community and Outreach Programmes, S0.21 (Social Sciences)
- 15:00 - 17:00: Law School Mixer, OC0.04 (Oculus)
Key Academic Technology
Tabula
Tabula is used for the administration of your course. You will use Tabula to:
- View your student profile and Personal Tutor details
- See your timetable, choose your seminar groups and view your attendance record
- View coursework assignment deadlines, submit assignments or request an extension
- View marks for and feedback on your assignment submissions
- Submit mitigating and personal circumstances
Moodle
Moodle is the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used at the University of Warwick. Each of your modules will have a Moodle page. You will use it to:
- Find module resources including reading lists, assessment information etc.
- Engage in course-related learning activities
- See messages from your tutors
- Submit assignments (in some cases - you will use Tabula for most assignments)
Microsoft Teams
Teams is an online office, and will primarily be used for online meetings. You may use Teams to:
- Attend live online meetings
- Attend online meetings with your Personal Tutor or other staff member
Echo 360
Echo 360 is a lecture capture system. You may use Echo 360 to:
- View your recorded online lectures
Echo 360 is available via module Moodle pages.
Please note that practices will differ between modules and departments. You will be informed by module leaders on specific module arrangements.

The Library
The Library is at the heart of campus, and will be a central part of your University experience. Familiarise yourself with the Library through the Library induction programme.

Have a browse of the Library’s PPL subject guide which give you an overview of how to retrieve information across all areas and introduce you to our Subject Librarians.

The careers team are available to support you with your career and are offering services remotely to students. You can find out more and learn how to get support on their help & advice page

Undergraduate Research Support Scheme
The PPL SSLC
SSLCs (Student-Staff Liaison Committees) are committees made up of elected student representatives, known as Course Reps, and members of staff. They provide an accessible arena for students to discuss, with staff, issues connected to teaching, learning and student support. They also provide an opportunity for the department to consult with students and receive feedback on new proposals.
PPL Families
The PPL Society are launching their PPL parenting scheme!
This popular programme runs every year and is a great opportunity for freshers to meet other members of the Society, make friends, and ask your questions to returning students who have been in your shoes.
The parenting scheme matches several returning students with a small group of freshers to create families and is completely free to sign up, just ask the Society when you meet them in Welcome Week.
Wellbeing and Student Support Services
The Wellbeing Support Team offers practical advice and emotional support for your wellbeing and help accessing other services.
The Disability Team offers support to manage the impact of a disability, including specific learning differences, mental health, autism spectrum and long term medical conditions. Register with Disability Service if you believe you are entitled to support.
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Services (CAPS) offer a range of therapeutic interventions for students experiencing emotional or psychological issues.
Guidance for New International Students
Are you travelling from overseas? Learn more about Immigration, what life will be like when you get here and University transition support. To prepare, we recommend completing 'International Student Success' online course before travelling to the UK.
Our Student Immigration & Compliance team offers visa support throughout your journey at Warwick, from pre-arrival to 6 months after graduation.
