Gibbet Hill Road Closure

Essential work to replace a major gas main along Gibbet Hill Road is due to start on Monday 11 February, subject to final statutory approvals. This work will inevitably cause some difficulties on roads to and from the University so we advise everyone to allow extra time for their journeys.

National Grid Transco have been in discussions with Coventry City Council and local bus operators to plan the roadworks, which will result in the temporary closure of Gibbet Hill Road in a number of phases.

Work is scheduled to take place from 11 February to 18 May and from 21 July to 17 August. From 19 May to 6 July, work will take place in land adjoining the highway, but this off-road work is not anticipated to cause disruptions.

Bus operators are working together with the City Council to devise new bus routes and diversions and the University are exploring a number of measures to try and lessen the inevitable disruption and inconvenience caused by this major work.

Detailed bus plans and diversions are currently being compiled and will be available on the Visitors' Centre  of the University website at the beginning of February. Visitors to the University are advised to check this information as it becomes available to help plan your journey.
