Collaborative Course Approval Procedure
All collaborative courses follow the University online course, module and discontinuation processes https://warwick.ac.uk/services/aro/dar/quality/categories/courseapproval/. For collaborative courses proposers must complete the following sections in the online course approval system:
- Collaborative learning Section (Validation, Franchise, Articulation, Joint and Dual Awards, Co-delivery)
- Distance Delivery Section (University distance delivery courses and blended learning)
- Degree Apprenticeships (paper based degree apprenticeship Section 11 uploaded in the online course proposal)
Contractual Arrangements
All partnership arrangements will be supported by a written agreement setting out the rights and obligations of the parties and signed by the authorised representatives of the University and the partner institution. The written agreement will clearly reflect the nature of the agreement and identify ownership of student numbers and respective responsibilities in terms of Office of Student (OfS) reporting, student enrolment, collection of fees, and academic and pastoral care. The agreement will clearly outline the financial arrangement with the partner regarding quality assurance monitoring and review, administration, graduation and costs associated with agreed additional student services.
- The agreement will include a series of Schedules relating to the agreement. These will include:
- Financial arrangements
- Approved collaborative courses
- GDPR Arrangements
The draft legal agreement must commence development at the beginning of the approval process to ensure that it will be ready once approval for the academic partnership has been approved.
Final Contractual Agreement Sign Off
The Registrar, the GFD and the Finance Director are the main signatories for all non-research contracts.. The Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor are also authorised signatories. Exceptionally, for complex or high risk academic partnerships, the agreement may be presented to a meeting of Senate and Council for approval before being presented to the parties for signature. It is customary for the partnership agreement to be sent to the proposed partner for their final consideration and signature, before being presented to the Vice-Chancellor for signing on behalf of Senate.
It should be noted that Partner institutions also have to follow their own approval processes, and so this stage in the process can take some time. Partnership agreements must not be entered into or signed by individuals in Departments/ Schools unless with University signatory agreement has been authorised.
