How our next ITLR is being shaped by the University community

Consultation on our plans for the next Institutional Teaching and Learning Review (ITLR) is well underway following the publication of our draft blueprint last month. Thank you to everyone who attended one of our Town Hall events over the last week, which have been invaluable in refining the final design of ITLR before it is approved by the University’s Education Committee in June.

Amongst the feedback received so far, we have started to see several common themes emerge:

· You have confirmed that we need to double down on our plans for ITLR to enable supportive and collegiate dialogue in reviews.

· You have been clear that for ITLR to promote inclusive education practices, the review panels we appoint need to bring diverse perspectives and experiences.

· You have told us that we need to rethink the proposed timescales for submitting the self-evaluation document in late October if we want colleagues to have the time to develop it meaningfully.

· You have been supportive of our plans to boost the role of students as partners in this ITLR, including through panel membership and departmental student lead reps.

· You have asked us to be clear up front about the impact we want ITLR to have in the longer-term and the practical steps to ensuring that impact through follow-up and links to other strategic review processes.

We’re grateful to colleagues who have taken the time to reflect and share their opinions so far on the Draft Blueprint for ITLR 2023 and we’re looking forward to adding to that over the next week. We have wrapped up our Town Hall events now, but you can find a recording of the presentation summing up ITLR hereLink opens in a new window. You can then share your feedback and questions with us through our online consultation form or by emailing itlr@warwick.ac.uk. To ensure we engage as many colleagues as possible, we’ve extended the deadline for feedback to 20 May.

We look forward to reading your feedback and sharing how our plans are changing in the coming weeks!
