News and Events across the Education Group - December 2019

Christmas TreeDear colleagues,

Welcome to our December 2019 Education Group update.

Only a few more days to go until our well-earned Christmas break!

As expected, term 1 has been hectic and with a few challenges, but also really energising and productive. Overall we can be proud that we continue to deliver great services to the University community and beyond, and develop new strategies and initiatives that really do transform our students’ lives. Those of you at the all-staff meeting in November will recall that we have scored quite well in the Professional Services Staff Survey, with academic colleagues in particular rating us as “good” or “excellent.”

Thank you to everyone who made it up to Westwood on a wet Wednesday afternoon to attend our Staff CPD Conference – Fiona Groenhout provides a really useful summary.

Changes continue with the re-launch of Academic Office as Student Administrative Services – Andrew Higgins explains what lies behind the name change here. The new Education Group Structure can be viewed here.

Each year, the Education Group is required to produce an over-arching Strategic Business Plan that outlines key activities, developments, opportunities and risks. It has to be a relatively brief document that is taken as the overall road-map by the Registrar and other members of University Executive Board. Of course it cannot list all of our contributions, but do please take time to have a look through it and see what the 'story'; is that we are telling to the outside world.

If you have any suggestions or feedback on how we can improve the Group Update, do drop me a line at academicregistrar@warwick.ac.uk.

Chris

Crisis LogoAs we celebrate Christmas, and the end of a rather interesting year (and decade!) once again I have not be able to send everyone the personal thanks I would like to give in recognition of your contribution. It really is a privilege to be part of the Education Group, and so on behalf of us all I have donated to Crisis this year - https://www.crisis.org.uk/ - and I hope you too consider whether a donation to a charity of your choice before we head off for the festive break.
