2024-25

The Warwick PATHWAY Programme

Department: Research Culture

Date: Ongoing

Summary: This programme was established to help tackle the under-representation of Black academics, particularly at senior levels, in Higher Education and at Warwick. This is a positive action programme to support aspiring Black researchers to progress their careers.

Decolonise the Curriculum Working Group

Summary: The Decolonising the Curriculum Working Group (DCWG) was initially set up in early 2018 (formerly the Liberated Curriculum Working Group), with the aim of seeking to make PAIS’s teaching more diverse and inclusive.

Enhancing our Muslim Student Experience

Department: Warwick Medical School

Date: 2025

Summary: Muslim students make up a significant proportion of Warwick’s student body (~10%), yet continue to experience barriers to their learning and belonging due to systemic challenges within educational environments. This project led to the creation of an interactive workshop session for staff, and a series of resources and guidance for students, specifically within Warwick Medical School, to help ease their transition into medical school and raise awareness of the barriers which are often faced.

Resource to Support Trans Students

Department: School of Cross Faculty Studies

Date: 2024-25

Summary: This student-produced resource was created as a guide to help students settle in to the school, and the wider university, as a trans student. The guide covers the basic information you may need to know as a trans student, to make the settling in process smoother and more welcoming for students.

2023-24

Pre-course Induction Sessions for Disabled Students

Date: Since July 2024

Summary: Pre-course induction support sessions have been developed for trainees who disclose a disability. This has supported trainees in their induction to the university and the PGCE programme.

Thrive for Warwick Scholars

Department: Student Opportunity Skills Team

Date: Ongoing

Summary: A bespoke Thrive programme for Warwick Scholars that builds on the original programme's skills development, including overcoming imposter syndrome.

Exploring the Lived Experience of Mature Students

Department: Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL)

Date: January to June 2024

Summary: A research project which aims to develop an in-depth understanding of the experience of non-traditional learners.

2022-23

Supporting Independent Students

Department: Widening Participation Lifecycle Team

Date: Ongoing

Summary: Providing advice and support for students who are care leavers, care experienced, estranged from their families, and Sanctuary Scholars (students who are usually seeking asylum).

Decolonising Social Sciences

Summary: Collective decolonisation activity culminating in the production of a workbook, awarding gaps report and meetings to action change.

Diversity in Mathematics

Department: Mathematics Institute

Date: Summer 2023

Summary: Undergraduate students create posters and web content to help promote the theme of diversity in mathematics.

Positive Digital Practices

Department: Dean of Students Office

Date: March 2022 to July 2023

Summary: Supporting part-time, commuter, distance and mature students with their learning by developing and embedding positive practices that proactively considered mental wellbeing. Warwick led on the Positive Pedagogies work area, with a targeted intersectionality focused on mature students.
