Electrical
Neil Williams - Electrical Maintenance Manager
"I manage the Electrical Services team. They are are responsible for the operations and maintenance of a wide variety of complex equipment throughout the University Estate such as High Voltage /Low Voltage power distribution systems,
critical power supplies, localised small power, lighting and building energy management systems."
I manage the
day to day activities including
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
and Reactive Maintenance for the Electrical section across the entire campus. Our section of 21 team members is responsible for project support, small work installation and the testing of emergency lighting and fire alarms. I am a line manager to two Electrical Services Supervisors."

I manage the Building Management Systems (BMS)
by supporting
new builds on campus and
increasing efficiency of existing systems. I assist the Energy Centre Manager with the control of energy centres and the district heating network and ensure that reactive and planned works are completed. I am a line manager to one BEMS technician."
Mechanical
Geoff O'Hara - Mechanical Maintenance Manager
"I manage the Mechanical Maintenance teams, together we are responsible for compliance of mechanical building systems, air conditioning, LEV, pressure systems including lab gas infrastructure. This is supported by Specialist Engineering Surveyors"
I help to manage the Mechanical Services section of directly employed staff.
I also ensure that all statutory
maintenance is recorded and planned and that reactive maintenance is provided to the entire campus. I am a line manager to two Mechanical Supervisors who in turn manage a team responsible for plumbing and heating faults on campus."
Building Fabric
Wayne Smith - Building Fabric Maintenance Manager
"My responsibility is to manage a core building fabric team of around 26 skilled and motivated staff for the university, supporting and guiding them in the complex repair and maintenance management of a large campus.
This can include anything from minor roof repairs to larger replacement programs. Carrying out remedial and reactive maintenance across the sites many and varied buildings. Organising and carrying out renovation, restoration and refurbishment works in any of the estates departments. Providing support for staff and contractors carrying out summer works that consists of intense programs of works with narrow windows of opportunity. We organise and carry out groundworks, painting & decorating, carpentry & joinery, flooring, fitouts, ceiling replacements, weatherproofing and glazing, plus any other building fabric necessary."
I help to manage the Building Fabric section of directly employed staff whose day-to-day activities involve Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance of Building Fabric across the entire campus. Our section includes Decorating, Roofing, Building, Flooring, Plastering and Carpentry. As a section we are also responsible for small works, supporting projects and the zone technician teams as well as larger contractor work across campus. I am a line manager to building fabric supervisors who support the team."
