Impact of disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 connections on Android devices
We have disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 encryption protocols across the University's web services. Doing so prevents these protocols from being used to access Warwick websites via an insecure web browser or application. We made this change to keep the University's sites safe and secure.
You can no longer access parts of the website using the stock Android Browser on devices running Android 4.4 or older.
Where possible, we recommend you upgrade your Android operating system to a newer version. Alternatively, install and use a modern browser via the Google Play Store – for example, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
This table shows how disabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 impacts you, and the recommended action to take:
Browser | Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or newer | Android 4.4 (KitKat) or older |
---|---|---|
Android Browser | No impact | Upgrade Android operating system, or use Chrome or Firefox |
Chrome | No impact | No impact |
Firefox | No impact | No impact |
