The health and Safety Services Team provides advice and support to managers and staff to help them meet their legal duties under the Health and Safety at the Work Act 1974. This includes help with things like risk assessments, work equipment safety, chemical safety, radiation and lasers, biological safety, fire safety, occupational health matters, field work and travel safety. The team also carry out inspections and audits to help provide H&S assurance to HoD's and the the University's Executive Board.
HoD's should familiarise themselves with the content of the Health and Safety Policy Page, which provides them with useful links to topics such as risk assessment, accident reporting and H&S objectives.
In particular HoD's must read the relevant sections of the 'Leadership and Management of H&S' as this document details the duties and accountabilities placed on holders of a Head of Department role.
HoD's can also access the Health and Safety Services main webpage here, which will provide them with access to he Health and Safety A-Z pages containing information and guidance on numerous H&S topics.
If you cannot easily locate the information you are looking for on the A-Z pages then you can contact the member of the team aligned to your department here:

Social Inclusion Strategy Team
Our strategic aim is to deliver the Social Inclusion Strategy by removing the barriers that prevent people from working, studying and succeeding at Warwick by increasing diversity, developing an inclusive culture and becoming an internationally recognised leader in social inclusion.
We do this by:
*Collaborating with departments to understand your challenges and provide strategic advice.
* Piloting projects to facilitate change.
*Delivering and commissioning training.
*Creating guidance and policies to support our goals.
A key element of our strategy is to improve representation at senior levels, close the awarding gap and improve social mobility. These are measured through our KPI's - Social Inclusion Strategy - Key Performance Indicators (warwick.ac.uk)
Our strategy incorporates the 6 key pillars that are essential to enable us all to deliver against the KPI's.
Data analysis- The people dashboard ensures you can see the diversity profile of staff in your department so you can ensure campaigns and interventions are targeted and measurable.
Compliance and KPIs - We can help you set KPIs relevant for your department and provide advice to meet these objectives.
Inclusive leadership and Accountability- We facilitate workshops to support meaningful discussions about creating inclusive team cultures.
We provide guidance and support to help ensure people-based decisions are fair and free from bias (eg inclusive recruitment or inclusive PDR guidance) and we pilot projects, initiatives and programmes that help your teams thrive.
Inclusive Campus – We work with stakeholders across campus to ensure our spaces are inclusive for everyone. This includes supporting the delivery of new capital projects or supporting with the creation of new spaces to meet staff or student needs.
Inclusive Culture – We work with stakeholders throughout the university to ensure our governance and people processes promote diversity and support the development of an inclusive culture for all. This means reviewing the employee experience from recruitment to exit, providing learning or developing policies and processes to ensure equity for all staff.
Communication and Engagement -We seek to understand and facilitate discussions on key issues impacting inclusion through forums such as FLIC, Social Inclusion Conference and through our social inclusion governance structures.
