Working on assignments, having deadlines and finding that balance between, study, rest and socialising can be a challenge at times.
These tips will support you in planning ahead, staying focused and handing in assignments on time.
Start Early
Once you receive your module guide, start planning, work backwards and seek tutorial support early on.
Create a schedule that is inclusive of all aspects of your life. Do not forget your wellbeing and taking time to connect with friends.
Prioritise your workload
Prioritise your tasks- use your timetable and deadline as a guide. Seek out support from your personal tutor for guidance on tasks or any questions regarding your assignment. Do not leave it till it is too late.
Manageable chunks
Break your assignment down into small chunks, make a list, then tick off when completed. It creates a sense of achievement throughout the assignment
Best time for you
Are you a morning person or a night owl, find the best time for study and reflect that in your schedule. Work to your strengths, by being kind to yourself and realistic too, you are less likely to feel panicked towards the deadline
Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro technique supports you to focus for small chunks of time, ensures you have a regular break and marks each achievement, however small
- Prioritise tasks – write a list
- Set a timer for 25 minutes
- Focus on one task for entirety of timer
- When timer goes off, take a 5 minute break
- Repeat the process
