Academic Governance Review Update

Academic Governance Review Update

Last academic year the University, working with the Students’ Union and student representatives, reviewed the function, purpose and membership of items formal academic governance committees. The outcomes of this Academic Governance Review included:

  • Agreement of core principles for academic governance which recognise the value of diversity of thought, voice and experience in decision making
  • Introduction of a new framework detailing committee roles and membership types and enhanced student representation on these formal committees to demystify the who and how behind committees at Warwick.
  • Introduction of new committees focussed on Student Success and Learning and Teaching
  • Changes to the name some of existing committees

This message is to raise awareness that the transition to these new committee names in in progress in University regulations and policy. It is likely that there will be previous committee names in some documentation until the start of the new academic year. This does not change the function or purpose of these committees nor the function of the regulations and policies in which they appear.

The Students’ Union and Student Advice Centre are aware of these changes and the transition to new committee titles.
