NSS 2022 - Thank you for taking part

Earlier this year, more than 2,800 final year students completed the National Student Survey.

The results were published nationally today (6 July), and we want to take the opportunity to say thank you for your feedback given through the survey. Your academic department will work through this feedback and discuss plans with your Course Reps to support and improve your experience. We can already see a number of helpful themes emerging, read on to find out more.

Overall results

At Warwick, our results are positive overall. Through your feedback, we scored 81.4% on Overall Satisfaction, which places Warwick third in the Russell Group, 27th in the sector (all universities across the UK) and the top Russell Group university in the Midlands.

You have placed Warwick in the top five overall within the Russell Group for all core aspects of the academic student experience, including teaching, assessment and feedback, learning resources, organisation, learning community, academic support and student voice.

In fact, as a result of your feedback, we have ranked first for Student Voice within the Russell Group. You said you are satisfied with the opportunities provided to share your feedback and we will continue to work together with you, the Students’ Union and other Student Representatives to strengthen our progress on the academic student experience. In the year ahead, we will make sure you continue to have lots of opportunities to share your views and keep the dialogue going.

Through your feedback, we also remain first in the Russell Group for Assessment and Feedback. We are in the top two in the Russell Group for Academic Support, top three for Learning Opportunities and top four for Teaching, and for Organisation and Management. You have let us know that your experience in these areas has been positive. This is great to hear as you have returned to experience more face to face teaching, support, assessments and learning opportunities this year, whilst maintaining the best aspects of a virtual learning environment.

Clearly you think Warwick is on the right track, and with your feedback and future input, we will keep improving.

As ever, your input will allow us to make enhancements. Your department will review responses to the survey, including the many helpful comments on what is going well and what needs to change, working with your Course Reps to further improve your learning experience in the year ahead.

Next steps

We are looking forward to working through the rest of the feedback in the survey. If you’re returning next year, you’ll hear more about the changes we will make. Many of you will be contributing to new developments through Student Staff Liaison Committees (SSLC) or by feeding into projects. You can also speak to your Course Rep or Students’ Union officer if you have ideas for improving your course or a service provided by the University, or put yourself forward to fill an academic representation role in the next academic year – keep your eyes peeled for updates and nomination opportunities in the student and SU newsletters. For those of you who have already made a difference through representation and participation: many thanks for doing so!
