In addition to teaching undergraduate seminars during my PhD, I have demonstrated the impact of my research activities during my doctoral studies:
ESRC PhD Internship with the Welsh Government (July - Nov 2012)
- Researched, produced and published a report on inequalities in access to health services in Wales (available here)
- Made recommendations for the Welsh Government to hire two further interns to build on my work, two interns were subsequently hired.
Equality and Diversity Practices
- Provided consultation on development of new Equality Analysis procedures and tool to be used in an NHS Hospital Trust
- Engaged in dialogue about sharing research findings with the Institute of Equality and Diversity Practitioners
Public-engagement event as part of ESRC Festival of Social Sciences (1st November 2014)
- Won an ESRC grant of up to £2,000 to organise an event as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences 2014
- Organised a public-facing doctoral research poster exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry (see details here)
- Displayed 26 posters by doctoral students from across the social sciences
- Around 100 members of the public visited the exhibition over the course of the day
- Feedback was positive from students and visitors, with expressions of interest in a larger scale event of this kind
