Social Mobility Student Research Hub

Please read this document before applying: Student Research Associate role descriptionLink opens in a new window

This programme will start in December, after a face-to-face launch and run for approximately six months. Hours may vary depending on individuals' commitments. However, we anticipate you will need to spend an average of about three hours per week on this project (up to approximately 70 hours in total).

You can view more information about this year's programme by viewing the slides here.

You should prepare the content of the application below in advance in order to complete the online application outlining your research proposal. The application cannot be saved so please keep a copy on word separately to avoid losing your work.

Please note that with the exception of Sanctuary Scholars, this ‘widening participation’ opportunity applies only to UK students who are classified as ‘Home’ students for tuition fee purposes. As a UK student, you must meet one or more widening participation criteria to be considered eligible (e.g. you were eligible for Free School Meals, you are in receipt of a Bursary or other means tested financial support, you spent time in local authority care). You must be a current undergraduate or postgraduate taught student to be eligible to apply. Please see the 'student research associate role description' via the link above to read the full list of eligibility.

Applications for the programme are now open and should be completed by the closing date of Wednesday 19th November 2025 at 11.55pm. Please note that this is an absolute deadline and we will not be able to accept any further applications beyond this date.

The applications will be assessed by the reviewers and successful applicants will be invited to attend a 30 minute interview. Invitations to interview will be sent via e-mail by Thursday 27th November 2025. Interviews will take place the week commencing Monday 1st December 2025.

You can view previous projects on our webpages found here. We welcome resubmissions from students who have applied to, but have been unsuccessful in previous years. If you would like feedback from a previous application, please contact us at socialmobilityhub@warwick.ac.uk. We also welcome previous Social Mobility Student Research Hub researchers to reapply if they would like to participate again.

If you have any questions relating to the programme, your eligibility or your application, please contact us at socialmobilityhub@warwick.ac.uk.
