Extenuating Circumstances - Undergraduate Applicants

Extenuating Circumstances - Form A (Applicants)

This form should be submitted within two weeks of us receiving your UCAS form; information received after a decision has already been communicated will not be considered unless this was within two weeks of you applying via UCAS. If extenuating circumstances affect you after this time (and are likely to have an impact on your future performance) then you will have a subsequent opportunity to inform us about this if you become an offer holder.

If your referee has included this information in your UCAS reference you do not need to provide it again, however you or your referee may wish to use this form to provide additional evidence or detail.

Please use this form to advise us where significant extenuating circumstances beyond your control may have affected your recent academic performance, including in examinations or assessments such as GCSEs. Circumstances may include, but are not limited to:

- Bereavement

- Acute ill health

- Sudden and severe disruption of a personal or domestic nature.

Significant and evidenced extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration when determining whether we can make you an offer, alongside other factors such as the availability of places on the chosen degree course, and the information contained in your UCAS application. Submitting an extenuating circumstances form does not guarantee that the University will be able to make you an offer.

Submissions without supporting evidence are unlikely to be considered.

The information you provide will be treated in confidence, and only shared with necessary members of the Undergraduate Admissions Service and relevant academic members of staff.
