Socialising at Warwick

Making friends and trying new experiences are a huge part of what makes life at Warwick special. This could include joining societies, meeting people for coffee, nights out at bars and clubs, gigs, or playing team sports.

In Welcome Week, there are lots of events planned, including theme nights, student societies and sports fairs, and of course meeting the people you live with in your halls of residence. There's so much going on in the first few weeks of term, but don't worry if you don't meet your closest friends straight away. There are new events and activities happening all the time, so there's plenty of time.

Clubs and pubs

SU nightclub The Copper Rooms and the Terrace Bar host regular club nights. Enjoy 90s and noughties classics at Pop! and School Dayz and house music at Mixology.

For something more low-key, you can grab drinks and test your general knowledge at a quiz night at The Dirty Duck.

Student clubs and societies

There are currently more than 300 student-run clubs and societies offered through our Students’ Union. These give you the chance to meet new friends, do the things you love, or try something new – performing, exploring other cultures, food, film, music, volunteering and much more.

At Warwick, we are especially proud of the variety of sports societies available to students, with clubs operating both on and off campus. The options include martial arts, athletics, team sports, and many forms of dance. There may even be sports you have never heard of, just waiting to become your new favourite.

Live music

Why not show what you’re made of at karaoke or an open-mic night? If you’d rather listen, you can take in live acoustic music at the Dirty Duck or our vintage tea shop Curiositea.

There are also larger concerts and gigs on campus - outdoors, in The Copper Rooms nightclub, or at Warwick Arts Centre.

Outside of campus, there are a huge number of live music venues across Coventry and nearby Leamington. Major international artists also play at the Resorts World Arena and in central Birmingham - both a direct train journey from Coventry.

Sports and activity

Student sports clubs are a great way of meeting people, getting active and having fun in the process. While some clubs compete, others are just for fun, so you can get involved at whatever level suits you.

You can also make the most of our green spaces if you fancy a run, bike ride, or just to explore and get some steps in.

Our Sports and Wellness Hub provides incredible facilities and expert trainers. We also have 60 acres of sports pitches, a tennis centre and an athletics track. Elite-level athletes may be interested in our performance sports programme and scholarships.
