IB requirements changed from:

34 including 5 in HL Biology and HL Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Geography, or Psychology

or

36 including 5 in HL Biology.

To:

36 including 5 in HL Biology.

Applicants not taking Chemistry at Higher Level must meet essential Chemistry requirements with:
• Grade 6 in Chemistry at Standard Level
• Grade B/6 in GCSE Chemistry (or equivalent)
• Grades BB/66 in GCSE Combined Science

 

And:

We welcome applications from candidates who meet the contextual eligibility criteria and whose predicted grades are close to, or slightly below, the contextual offer level. The typical contextual offer is 32 including 5 in Higher Level Biology, or 30 including 5 in Higher Level Biology and 5 in Higher Level Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Geography, or Psychology.

We have updated the entry requirements for this course to include Psychology as an accepted second science.

12 July 2024

Following University approval, we have updated this course page. Here is a summary of the changes we have made:

  • Removed 'important information' notices - see below
  • Final year project, changed from a 'six-week research project' to 'an individual project'
  • Adjusted contact hours, previously stating: You will receive 12-16 contact hours per week over 25 weeks. In your first year you should expect:
    - around 10 lectures a week
    - a full day in the laboratory
    - a taught tutorial with your personal tutor and 6-7 of your peers
  • We have updated the module overview on the 'Modules' tab
  • We have updated some the core modules for this degree for all years of study, particularly in Year One and some of the cores in Year Two
