Important information

We are planning to make some exciting changes to our Computer Science (MEng) degree for 2025 entry. We continually review our curricula to reflect developments in the relevant disciplines to deliver the best educational experience. The core and optional modules will undergo approval through the University's rigorous academic processes. As modules are approved, we will update the course information on this webpage. It is therefore very important that you check this webpage for the latest information before you apply and prior to accepting an offer. Sign up to receive updates.

Removed the following modules:

  • “Mathematics for Computer Scientists I”
  • “Mathematics for Computer Scientists II”
  • “Formal Languages”
  • “Logic and Verification”

Added the following modules:

  • “Sets and Proofs” (in Year 1, under “Design of Information Structures”)
  • “Logic and Automata” (in Year 1, under “Professional Skills”)
  • “Linear Algebra and Calculus" (in Year 2, under “Software Engineering”)
  • “Probability and Statistics” (in Year 2, under “Linear Algebra and Calculus”)

Removed “Machine Learning” from the examples of optional modules.

We have added information to the general entry requirements for this course:

New content:

  • All 2024–25 applicants will be required to take TMUA except for applicants who are eligible for a Contextual Offer – see our Contextual Offers webpageLink opens in a new window to check your eligibility.
  • TMUA scores will be assessed alongside other factors (including GCSEs, contextual indicators and predicted grades) to determine which applicants receive an offer.
  • The exact requirement in TMUA will be set once all results have been received. We cannot advise on the TMUA requirement at this stage.

Please note that applicants who do not take TMUA and who are not eligible for a Contextual Offer may not be considered for an offer.
