Find out more about our entry requirements and the qualifications we accept.
Subject Combinations
- We do not specify a subject mix at A Level, but we particularly value applicants who can demonstrate a strong breadth of study.
- We are looking for students with strong mathematical ability and A-level Mathematics or equivalent is therefore required for this programme.
- Further Maths and Economics are not essential, although they are fine subject choices for a student considering Economics at degree level. We treat them as any other strong A level subject: they have no special status.
- We will only look at your top three grades (including Mathematics). A fourth A Level will not be considered.

New
General entry requirements
Applications to our Economics degrees are assessed primarily on the basis of the applicant’s predicted/current grades and past academic record.
Optionally, applicants are encouraged to sit the Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA).
TMUA scores may be used as a factor in determining which applicants receive an offer for Economics L100. Applicants achieving the highest scores in the TMUA will be considered for a reduced offer of AAA. The required level in TMUA will be set once all scores have been received and will not be published.
Applicants who do not sit TMUA will be considered alongside those who sit the test and achieve a lower score.
Please note that TMUA is not used in the assessment of applicants who are eligible for a Contextual Offer – see our Contextual Offers webpage to check your eligibility.
For further details including test dates and how to register for TMUA, please see the TMUA at Warwick webpage. Link opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window
