Greek Religion - Organisation
This 30 CAT module will be taught by Dr Paul Grigsby and Dr Matthew Evans, with both delivering lectures according to their own interests and specialities. Dr Evans will primarily focus on how the Greeks communicated with their gods, with an especial focus on sanctuaries and their festivals; Dr Grigsby will look at spheres of religion and religious experience, asking the question 'did the Greeks really believe these things?'
There will be weekly lectures, with required reading before each lecture. There will be four seminars throughout the year led by Dr Grigsby and Dr Evans, and assessment will take the form of two essays and a summer exam.
