Study Skills Resources
Thursdays, 12-1 (OC 1.04): Study Skills Sessions, starting from Week 4 (30th October).
These sessions will be more focused on how to approach certain assessments, strategies for getting the most out of your revision, and other study-related topics.
Some useful resources:
Departmental Handbook 2025/26.
Schedule:
30th October: The first session will be on Source Criticism/Gobbets, which will be of particular interest to first-year students (I remember being very confused the first time I googled the word 'gobbet' as a fresher, so you're not alone in this one!), but anyone is welcome to come along. The presentation is available here!
6th November: Finding and Using Primary and Secondary Sources. Again, this will be particularly helpful for first-year students who are approaching essay-writing for the first time at an undergraduate level, but all are welcome! The presentation is available here!
*13th November: READING WEEK*
20th November: Essay Planning and Writing. This will be particularly helpful for first-year students who are approaching essay-writing for the first time at an undergraduate level, but all are welcome! The presentation is available here!
27th November: Referencing and Bibliographies. This session will be helpful for first-year students and anyone else who may be unfamiliar with how to correctly cite and reference primary and secondary sources in their essays. All are welcome! The presentation is available here!
4th December: Making the most of your vacation. Our last session of the term will discuss how to use your time effectively over the vacation, whether you have just finished your first term at undergraduate level or you are preparing for the final few months of your course. As always, all are welcome!
If you have any ideas or suggestions for what you might want to cover in one of these sessions, please do let Chris (Christopher.Parr@warwick.ac.uk) know.
