Classical Civilisation Teachers Day - 1st July 2019

Overview

The Department of Classics and Ancient History and the Warwick Classics Network were pleased to welcome 46 teachers from across the country to our FREE Classical Civilisation A-level Teachers Day which took place on Monday 1st July 2019, here at the University of Warwick. The event included academic sessions led by Warwick academics as well as a session led by Alex Orgee, subject leader of classics at OCR. Free travel bursaries were made available, courtesy of The Classical Association.

On the day, our Warwick Classics academics led sessions based on the component modules of the OCR A-level Classical Civilisation syllabus, giving subject overviews and an idea of modern scholarship in their specialist areas. Videos of these sessions and additional resources can found through this link. And throughout the day teachers had access to our Virtual Reality Headsets, to sessions on coin handling, experiencing the Greek Symposium with our replica pots, and had an opportunity to learn about the work of the Warwick Classics Network and about their students could apply to Warwick and visit our Open Days.

A full report of the day can be found here, and you can access resources and videos of the sessions through this link.
