City of Rome - Field Trip 2014

(Word Document)CoR 2014 Rome Trip Application

THE DEADLINE FOR THE CITY OF ROME TRIP HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL FRIDAY 12pm OF WEEK 8

*TO THOSE WHO APPLIED WITHIN THE ORIGINAL DEADLINE: CONGRATULATIONS! You have a place on the trip

With the generous support of IATL funding we are proud to announce the City of Rome course field trip for 2014 (20th– 23rd of March), hosted at the British School at Rome.

This trip will be conducted by Dr. Abigail Graham (course Co-ordinator for the British School at Rome's Taught course in Roman Epigraphy) and Ersin Hussein, a lecturer and former participant in the prestigious "City of Rome" graduate course offered by the BSR.

This four day field trip will allow 20 students of Warwick University's City of Rome course to further their knowledge and understanding through a "hands-on" approach to the Ancient City. Site and museum visits will also be supplemented with practical archaeological skills and tutorials on using resources and archives at the British School. We will also collaborate with scholars from numerous schools and institutions in Rome. Students on the field trip will also produce videos and image journals which will be presented to their classmates and put online as a university resource.

There are only 20 places available, so interested parties (enrolled in the City of Rome course) should contact the module convenor and fill out an application by the start of Week 7 (Autumn term).

Cost: (ca. 150-165) pounds per student

This includes 3 nights accommodation, breakfast, dinner, museum & site entries, local travel costs, use of BSR facilities, and guest speakers.

* This does not include airfare, cost of transport from the airport to the British School, or lunch.

*If the trip is oversubscribed, decisions will be made on a merit basis, which will include marks from the first submitted essay (due in week 7).

**Once the list of participants has been published, students must provide proof of commitment (in the form of booked airline travel to Rome) no later than the end of the second week in December.**
