Russia and Eastern Europe in the 21st Century: Looking Back, Looking Forward

The conference will combine keynote speeches from leading academics, presentations by DPhil students on their research, workshops on methodology and language-related issues, and discussion groups on various themes, including:

  • Post-communist political developments
  • Issues of identity, ethnicity, and diaspora in Russia and CEE states
  • Social and cultural dynamics of change in post-communist societies

  • International relations and energy geopolitics in the region

St. Antony’s College, Oxford, will provide the setting for this event, which will  include lunch and dinner on the first day. The conference presents an opportunity for students and academics from the CEELBAS community to engage in scholarly debate, as well as foster informal ties.

Although full funding has not yet been allocated, we are confident this will be achieved. The ‘Call for Papers’ will be released if this is successful in December. Before that time, however, we welcome an expression of interest to this notification. If you would like to be a delegate to the conference, please send an e-mail to: erin.kelly@sant.ox.ac.uk
